QR Codes (Scavenger Hunt)
In my ed tech class, I recently learned how to create formative assessments, take attendance, and link to surveys all using QR codes. To easily create QR codes, I added the Google Extension "Premium QR Code Generator." This extension allows me to create QR codes that link to whatever website I am currently browsing. In addition to this extension, I learned to use Vocaroo and QRstuff.com to link QR codes to audio recordings, YouTube videos, and a variety of other resources. Additionally, I used ClassTools.net to create QR code quizzes and scavenger hunts easily. For this specific project, I created an easy formative assessment tool educators can use to help students recognize when ethos, pathos, and

logos are used in daily life and based it off of the PDESAS standard CC.1.2.9-10.K** and Standard - CC.1.4.9-10.C**.
This tech tool relates to Domain 1 (Instruction) of the Danielson Framework as educators can easily create student assessments using QR codes. Typically though, QR codes are used for quick, fun, and easy formative assessments that can be completed in class by students. Using QR codes in class also relates to the ISTE standards for students because students become empowered learners though actively engaging with technology and creative communicators as students can, in turn, use QR codes in their group projects/presentations/etc.
Lastly, this project relates to the 4 C's of education as students are engaging in critical thinking, collaboration, and communication. When students analyze information, in my case, the YouTube video commercials, for ethos, logos, and pathos, they are actively engaging in utilizing the knowledge they learned in class and applying it to new content. Additionally, students are engaging in collaboration and communication as students can possibly work together to figure out the answers to this formative assessments. Furthermore, because the nature of this project was a formative assessment, students are communicating informally to their teachers what they have learned in class.
Creating QR codes is an easy way to engage every student with technology and allow them to use their personal devices during class. In my experience, creating this project was quick, easy, and fun! The only reason I would be hesitant to use this tech tool in my future classroom would be if not all students had access to a technological device that could scan these QR codes.
**Standard - CC.1.2.9-10.K- "Determine or clarify the meaning of unknown and multiple-meaning words and phrases based on grade-level reading and content, choosing flexibly from a range of strategies and tools."
**Standard - CC.1.4.9-10.C- "Develop and analyze the topic with relevant, well-chosen, and sufficient facts, extended definitions, concrete details, quotations, or other information and examples appropriate to the audience’s knowledge of the topic; include graphics and multimedia when useful to aiding comprehension."
