Domain 3: Instruction

An Overview of Domain 3:

3a - Communicating with students

3b - Using questioning and discussion techniques

3c - Engaging students in learning

3d - Using assessment in instruction

3e - Demonstrating flexibility and responsiveness

One of the biggest reasons I decided to teach is because, in high school, I had an English teacher who challenged me academically. I desire to bring that same vigor and passion for learning to my students. In order to accomplish this practically, I create challenging grade-level content and pair that content with a variety of formative assessment tools.

Specific Ways I Have Implemented Domain 3:

1. Incorporated formative assessment into instruction through technology tools such as Kahoot, Quizizz, Flipgrid, Google Forms, Nearpod and Peardeck

2. Facilitated classroom discussions by incorporating think-pair-shares and debates into lessons

3. Engaged students in learning through incorporating their interests. I have used references to welding, Spiderman 3,  Stranger Things, and Marvel movies in lessons on grammar and writing skills to peak student interest

5. Communicated with students by providing opportunities for them to share about weekend plans, activites, etc.

6. Implemented strong focus on student-centered learning by creating units and projects that allowed each student to express their individuality
